This dry style Gewurztraminer is reminiscent of the limestone planted houses of Alsace with a cooler climate twist. There is good weight on the palette, but the tropical fruit and acidity find their way to the long, lingering finish. Warm with sweet cooking spices, rich with lychee and dried apricot, cleansing with just a hint of citrusy grapefruit to cleanse the palette.
This wine can be enjoyed alone but is an absolute knockout with hard assertive cheeses like parmigiana or aged cheddar or with ham, porchetta and the rustic pleasures of a baked ham or porchetta. Delicious with a squash or pumpkin dish that includes baking spices such as cinnamon, clove, or ginger – like risotto, curry or gnocci.
