jordan river sauvignon blanc 2022
A cross between New and Old World stylings, this “Savvy” has less green apple character and more tart, tropical and citrus elements on the nose. Lively on the palate. The acids, while tempered for the variety, are enhanced by mineral salinity. Chill well and enjoy with white fish with a lemon caper beurre blanc, or let it warm up a bit and pair with grilled asparagus drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled in crushed rock salt.
Markou Vineyards Savatiano 2023
Gold-yellow and bright, with aromas of quince, peach, apricot and green apple. The palate is zesty and nervy, with a brilliant acidic spine. There is plenty of ripe fruit to balance the steely character and to add a touch of body. The hints of the resinous / herbaceous quality that is signature to Savatiano is more a layer of complexity than a primary focal point. Chill lightly and enjoy with Tempura shrimp, fresh oysters or Spring Mix salads.
TENUTA DI CASTELLARO BIANCO POMICE 2022
The signature wine of Castellaro, this evocative white explodes from the glass with intense aromatics of pink grapefruit, ripe Asian pear, wet stone and pomelo. The palate is fresh and lively, but the richness of the Malvasia keeps it from being too nervy. It is dry, but there is a fairly good amount of primary fruit along with that telltale Lipari Island saltiness. Chill lightly and enjoy as an aperitif, or alongside grilled octopus, freshly shucked oysters or salty Sicilian ham.
Jordan River Barbera 2022
Blueberry, black cherry and crushed white pepper,on the nose. Medium-bodied and silky, this Barbera relies on acidity to provide the balance. Blueberry and kirsch on the palate, along with roasted red pepper and meaty notes. Uncomplicated and easy-drinking. Enjoy it on its own on a cool evening, or chill to cellar temperature and try it with burgers, beef kafta or roasted root vegetables.
Markou Vineyards eMeis Red 2023
Striking bright ruby colour, with aromas of ripe red cherry, strawberry and pomegranate. Fruit-forward and fresh, with lively acidity and plenty of juicy primary fruit. The grapes in this blend tend to produce sturdy wines, however these tannins are quite soft, likely thanks to the carbonic maceration. This lip-smacking, chuggable wine should be chilled lightly and served with an oily fish or grilled octupus.
Domaine de Cabasse Cuvee Marguerite 2021
Soft and approachable, with red berry and spice on the nose. The palate is rich and supple, with layers of red berry, currant, vanilla and crushed violets. Gentle acidity helps to balance the generous fruit. Serve at cellar temperature with roasted meats and vegetables or with umami-rich Asian cuisine.
